The festival's centerpiece is the Oscar-qualifying International Competition, reflecting incredible diversity and creativity of today's short filmmaking in drama, comedy, animation, and documentary. Recent Shortsfest success stories include Bear Story (Chile) winning the Oscar for Best animated Short Film in 2016, and We Can't Live Without Cosmos (Russian Fedration) and Shok (Republic of Kosovo/UK) being nominated.
