46th IFFI Goa - highlights and award winners


* The 11-day festival opened on November 20 with Mathew Brown’s "The Man Who Knew Infinity" based on self-taught Indian mathematical genius Ramanajun and closed with the screening of the Argentinian film "The Clan". 

* 187 films from 89 countries were screened at IFFI along with movies in the Indian Panorama section. 

Award winners

Golden Peacock Award  for the Best Film  and prize money of Rupees Forty lakhs  -  Colombian film Embrace of the Serpent” directed by Ciro Guerra 

Silver Peacock Award and cash prize of Rupees Fifteen lakhs for Best Director  was presented to British film director Peter Greenway for his film  “Eisenstein in Guanajuato” from Netherlands

*  ICFT-UNESCO - Fellini Medal  for  Indian filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly for his film Cinemawala. In collaboration with International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT), Paris, and UNESCO, the UNESCO Fellini Award was presented at IFFI for the first time this year. This medal is given to a film that reflects the socio-cultural ideals promoted by UNESCO.

Silver Peacock Award Best Actor (Male) to French Actor Vincent Lindon his film “The Measure of a Man” and cash prize of Rupees Ten lakhs 

Silver Peacock award to  Best Actor (Female) shared by five lead actresses - Gunes Sensoy, Doga Doguslu, Tugba Sunguroglu, Elit Iscan and Ilayda Akdogan – of Turkish film “Mustang”

Special Jury Award went to  the Bolivian film “Sealed Cargo” 

Special Mention  Goran Radovaovic’a Serbian film “Enclave”.

Lifetime Achievement Award to Oscar-winning Russian actor-filmmaker, Nikita Mikhalkov.
