A new blog for Docs

Film India Worldwide (FIW)  announces an extension of its service to Indian cinema  – a new blog dedicated to Documentaries and Shorts from India, or with an India connection when made abroad.

This complements FIW, the 11-year old quarterly on India’s feature films at festivals and new films that festivals can look forward to.  But so rich is this scene - with its news, views, happenings, awards, highlights and established or emerging talent – it needs  a separate  more frequent blog. Now so abundantly is all this reflected in the Documentary/Short film scene, it deserves its own attention and space.

Please log on to  and give us your feedback. Documentary and Short filmmakers! Please give us  news on your latest film festival acceptances and initiatives and awards won, we will do our best  to capture it all in our new blog.

FIW as a quarterly journal was launched in  2004. Uma da Cunha, its editor/publisher, also an international programmer of Indian films, was  earlier told by festivals abroad that news on Indian cinema was extremely scarce. FIW was her response to this need.

FIW now runs to 64 pages and is timed for release with the Berlin, Cannes, Toronto International Film Festivals,  at year end during the Indian film season of IFFI, Goa, the Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of Kerala.

The journal gives the latest news on  films and personalities from India who are making their way to world news and international film venues.

This magazine is now available in print as well as on line.  We invite you to subscribe and pay on line. Read the blog – and help us with your views.
